Pest - Downtown gems
On this walk, we’ll explore the landmarks of downtown Pest, including the Parliament Building, Szabadság Square and its surroundings, the Basilica, the Opera House, Heroes’ Square, and City Park. In addition to the famous sights, we’ll of course have time to discover the small, hidden gems and hear plenty of great stories.
What to expect:
We’ll begin our walk in the heart of Budapest, at the stunning Parliament Building, and explore the famous monuments and sights of Kossuth Square and Freedom Square. During the tour, you’ll get a glimpse into the everyday lives of Budapest residents as well as the city’s current issues. We’ll continue our sightseeing at St. Stephen’s Basilica, where we’ll learn about the history and highlights of the city’s largest Catholic church. We’ll then continue our journey along the city’s most elegant street, Andrássy Avenue, all the way to the Opera House.
In the second half of the walk, we’ll board the Millennium Subway, the city’s historic metro line, and ride to City Park. We’ll conclude the tour with a pleasant stroll through the park, passing the Széchenyi Baths, Vajdahunyad Castle, and the Hungarian House of Music, before finally arriving at Heroes’ Square.
